Product Recall: Southwire is recalling electrical outlet boxes

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled nearly 3,000 sets of Garvin pop-up electrical outlet ground boxes. The reason behind all three reports was that these outlet boxes overheated, which could create a fire risk.

Garvin pop-up electrical outlet floor box kits, with a stainless steel or brushed brass finish, contain two electrical outlets and two USB ports. They screw into floors and have metal covers that open and close to reveal their receptacles and USB ports.

There are no reports of injuries. However, to ensure the safety of users, they are requested to unplug all electrical appliances and contact Southwire for a full refund.

These outlet boxes were sold on garvininindustries.com, acdcusa.com, cesco.com, gordonelectricsupply.com, platt.com, and usesi.com from January 2016 through August 2018 for approximately $90.
