These new breakers are designed to meet Section 230.67 of the 2020 National Electrical Code® (NEC®), which requires that all services supplying residential units be equipped with a Type 1 or Type 2 surge protection device, as an integral part of the equipment or located adjacent to Immediately.

To meet NEC Section 230.67 surge protection, the Type 1 Leviton surge protection device is designed for quick and easy in-panel installation in a Leviton load center. All surge protector circuit breakers feature two standard single-pole circuit breakers with separate operating handles, so there is no loss of space inside the panel. An easy-to-read LED indicator light on each device displays surge protection status.
