BYD’s September sales breakdown: Song 89,135 units, Chen 75,785

The Song family sold a record 89,135 vehicles in September, remaining among BYD’s best-selling lineup.

BYD today announced new energy vehicle (NEV) sales for September, followed by details detailing the performance of different sub-brands and models.

The Song family continued to be BYD’s best-selling model with record sales of 89,135 vehicles in September, surpassing the previous record of 84,039 vehicles in December last year.

This represents a 41.84 percent increase year-on-year and a 16.07 percent increase from August.

Song family models on sale include the Song L EV, Song L DM-i and Song Pro DM-i from the Dynasty series, and the Song Plus EV and Song Plus DM-i from the Ocean series.

BYD’s Dynasty series of Song models sold 46,125 units in September, up 103.42 percent year on year and up 103.42 percent from 36,306 units in August.

It sold 43,010 units of the Ocean series of Song models in September, up 7.08 percent year on year and up 6.23 percent from 40,487 units in August.

The Chen model family sold 75,785 units in September, the second best-selling BYD lineup, which was up 68.14 percent year-on-year and up 7.56 percent from August.

The BYD Seal sold 58,285 units in September, the third best-selling BYD model, which was up 304 percent year-on-year and up 6.29 percent from August.

The Seal model family includes the Seal EV, Seal DM-i, Seal 06 DM-i, and Seal 07 DM-i.

BYD launched DM 5.0 on May 28 and released the Seal 06 DM-i and Qin L DM-i, the first two models equipped with the technology with a combined range of more than 2,000 kilometers.

On August 8, BYD launched the new 2025 Seal EV and Seal 07 DM-i.

The BYD Yuan family sold 45,618 units in September, up 38.84 percent year on year and up 8.15 percent from August.

BYD Seagull sold 43,425 units in September, up 8.31 percent year-on-year and up 6.05 percent from August.

Launched on April 26, 2023, the Seagull is BYD’s cheapest model. BYD launched the 2025 BYD Gull on August 1 with an unchanged starting price and basic specifications.

The BYD Han family sold 24,525 units in September, up 7.59 percent year on year and up 44.02 percent from August.

The company introduced the 2,025-car Han sedan on September 9, with the Han DM-i hybrid system upgraded to DM 5.0 and the all-electric Han EV upgraded to 800V high-voltage architecture.

BYD Dolphin sold 20,346 units in September, down 38.21 percent year-on-year but up 34.17 percent from August.

BYD Chaser 05 sold 16,750 units in September, up 110.69 percent year-on-year and up 9.24 percent from August.

BYD Tang sold 12,552 units in September, up 20.59 percent year on year and up 4 percent from August.

BYD Sealion sold 11,663 units in September, up 66.07 percent from 7,023 units in August.

The company launched the Sealion 07 on May 10, the first model of BYD’s new e-Platform 3.0 Evo technology platform.

Launched on September 23, the Sealion 05 DM-i hybrid model is the second model in the Sealion range.

BYD Frigate 07 sold 447 units in September, down 89.05 percent year on year but up 9.29 percent from August.

BYD e2 sold 173 units in September, down 13.07 percent year on year and down 75 percent from August.

BYD’s new energy vehicles include new passenger vehicles and commercial new energy vehicles, the former involving various brands including BYD, Denza, Yangwang and Fang Cheng Bao.

BYD Group sold 417,603 passenger new energy vehicles and 1,823 commercial new energy vehicles in September.

BYD’s passenger car brand, which includes the Dynasty and Ocean series, sold 398,704 units in September, up 45.7 percent year-on-year and up 12.97 percent from August.

BYD’s premium Denza brand delivered 10,299 units in October, down 21.72 percent year on year but up 3.1 percent from August.

BYD sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao delivered 5,422 vehicles in September, up 11.2 percent from 4,876 in August.

Fang Qing Bao’s first model, the Bao 5, was officially launched on November 9, 2023, and deliveries began on November 23 last year.

On July 29, Fang Qing Bao reduced the prices of all four versions of the Bao 5 by CNY50,000 ($7,120).

Yanguang delivered 310 vehicles in September, including 294 U8 off-road SUVs and 16 U9 high-speed electric vehicles.

BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand launched its first model, the U8, on September 20, 2023, with deliveries starting on November 24.

The Yangwang U9 went on sale on February 25, with deliveries scheduled to begin in late August.
