POCATELLO — A Pocatello man was arrested after police got information about possible explosives and suspicious firearms inside his apartment.
Cade Graber, 39, was charged with felony unlawful possession of destructive devices or bombs. According to the criminal complaint, Graber “knowingly, intentionally, or negligently possessed or controlled a bomb or destructive device.”
The Pocatello Police Department responded to Graber’s apartment in the 300 block of Roosevelt Street on Thursday.

The police spoke with an electrician who was contracted to do the work inside the house. He said he noticed possible explosive devices. He told police he had to move a plastic bag away from the wall he was working on. On top of the plastic bag was an open cardboard box, court documents said.
The cardboard box was flipped over, and inside the box was an open green ammunition box. He added that inside the box were what appeared to be several homemade pipe bombs.
He described them as solid tubes 6 to 7 inches long, with end caps at both ends. The tubes had a fuse attached to one end. He said he saw 15 to 20.
He said he saw several firearms inside the home as well and they appeared to be “ghost guns,” meaning there was no trade stamp, model or serial numbers on them.
Police obtained a search warrant for the home and found four AR-style rifles. They also found a cardboard box containing the green ammunition box. Police opened it and found the suspected pipe bombs as described by the electrician.
Officers cleared the home and called the Idaho Falls Police Bomb Squad for assistance.
Graber came to the house where police told him what was happening. Graber did not speak with police but wanted to speak with a lawyer. He was handcuffed and transported to the Bannock County Jail.
EastIdahoNews.com reached out to his attorney for comment on the case but we have not heard back. If we do, we will update this article.
Graber was given a $20,000 bond and has posted it ever since.
This charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Graber’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. in Bannock District Court.
Although Graber was charged with this crime, this does not necessarily mean that he committed it. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
