It’s time to run! Q&A with Christine Moon

We recently caught up with Christine to discuss what AHR Expo 2025 is all about and the importance behind it.

Q: Thank you for sharing a little about your upcoming presentation, Christine. What are you most excited about as you look forward to AHR Expo 2025?
I am very excited about this amazing opportunity to represent Nexstar and women in the professions.

Question: Your topic – Enhancing Your Leadership: Communication Techniques for Success – is an important one. Why did you choose to talk about this?
This topic comes up frequently in conversation as I train owners and general managers at Nexstar member stores. Too often, leadership frustrations stem from well-meaning employees who lack clear expectations or accountability. Addressing these issues is critical to building effective teams.

Q: What will you cover during your presentation?
Some key points include setting clear expectations, having regular one-on-one conversations with those you lead, and accepting accountability.

Q: To go deeper here, please describe how leadership and communication skills are intertwined?
definitely! I believe that the challenges we face with leadership are often related to our communication skills and the quality of the conversations we have with our team. So, for me, they are very much intertwined.

Q: Who is your topic directed to, Christine? Managers, leaders and team members on the front lines?
This topic is aimed primarily at managers and leaders, although the common communication techniques will be of value to everyone and can be applied inside and outside the workplace.

Q: What is the most important information attendees will glean from your discussion?
I hope attendees understand the importance of self-reflection when dealing with a “difficult” or low-performing employee. Often, improving communication can turn these employees into high performers and foster stronger relationships.

Q: As a leader in the trades, coming from a family with a legacy of serving their community with the best HVAC expertise, how important is it to create clear, concise communications?
Clear and concise communication is essential in every aspect of leadership and service. My grandfather, who founded our family’s HVAC company in 1945, taught us a basic principle: “If you have a clear understanding up front, you won’t have a misunderstanding at the end.” While he applied this to client relationships, I found it equally influential in promoting effective leadership and driving performance within the team.

Q: How often do you go to AHR?
This will be my first time attending an AHR show! I’m excited to see everything he has to offer, and I’m honored to contribute to this event.

Q: We are grateful to Women in HVACR for their partnership and allowing you to get on the mic at AHR! What are some ways you’ve seen Women in HVACR making their way to support women in the trades?
Women in HVACR is exceptional at promoting representation in the industry through impactful initiatives such as newsletters, events, and featuring female speakers at the AHR Expo. Representation is crucial because it enhances communication, as people connect more easily with those who share similar experiences. For women in the professions, this connection is especially important, because it provides relatable role models and support from others facing similar challenges.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to add as you look forward to the big show in February?
I’m looking forward to meeting new people and I’m especially excited to see Nexstar members showing their support at this event!

Thank you Christine! We are very excited for your presentation in February.
