Four areas of security and privacy areas cablabs make the Internet safer

With the continued adoption of global emerging technologies in intensifying weakness in electronic threats, it is now a suitable time to remind ourselves of the continuous Cablebs efforts to maintain everyone’s safety. Cablebs is proud to make every online experience safer and more efficient, expand the ways in which institutions can work and improve the ways we all communicate individually on the Internet.

Security and privacy is one of the main focus areas of the vision of Cablelabs technology, which was created in cooperation with our member operators. Our goal is to help them meet the safety needs today and prepare for the future by implementing developmentable and adaptable safety solutions that can keep pace with advanced technology.

The developments coming from the Cables’s Security and Privacy Technologies include the work that extends again during the past decade, which improves precise spying tools for home networks and institutions, the identity of the device and the ability to connect customized network experiences to specific devices. In particular, these safety and privacy technologies have four participation points where our work affects different types of subscribers ’needs: home, institution, basic network and protocols on the Internet.

at home

Cablebs concentration at home begins from the cable modem but expands to the home router or access point when these are distinctive parts of the equipment. In 2021, Cablebs has published the best common practice of a gateway, which describes the perfect safety scenarios of these devices. This reference document was the result of a global industrial initiative that included security experts and hardware manufacturers, including representatives of Cableone, Charter, Cisco, Cogeco, Comcast, Commscope, COX, Liberty Global, Maxlinar, Mediacom, Rogeers/Shaw and Technic olor .

Inside the house, Cablebs has participated in the efforts made in the Internet of Things safety space from the early days of the Wi-Fi alliance, Universal Plug and Play (UPNP), open-open (OIC), Allseen Alliance, Open Communication (OCF) and finally, the alliance of communication standards ( CSA) and the material, where we work today to secure devices at home and to help unify methods of security and data privacy.

For institutions

At the level of the institution, Cablebs works with our members to provide services and protection technologies that companies need to be able to work in complex environments today. We have a strong participation in the diligent dilution work of the service denial (DDOS), and we provide tools for network operators to help protect their customers from attack and determine threats. Cablebs is involved in this work with other bodies in society, with a leadership role in making the Internet safer for companies.

One of the examples of our work for institutions is our leadership in (and continuing to contribute to) correspondence, harmful programs and anti -mobile phones (M3AAWG) Ransomwari, active response, best joint practices, in which we help make the necessary decisions and steps facing organizations when they are victims of ransom attacks. This document helps them mobilize in that chaotic water, restore their institutions to smooth operation and become increasingly protected to move forward.

In the basic network

In September 2024, we published Cables Zero Trust and Security Security Security the best joint practice document, with the aim of adapting the principles of Zero Trust with the network operator. This work – also the result of the cooperation and contribution of the network operator – works today as a guide to the industry to secure infrastructure elements.

The role of Cablebs in Core and Access does not stop in Docsis® or Zero Trust networks. Also in 2024, the Security and Privatization Technology Team in the world of visual network safety contributed to Siepon specifications (IEEE SIEPON.4 Onu) and Pon (IEE P1904.4.4/D2.1).

Register our successful record in participating in 3GPP, calling for safety within mobile networks, 19 acceptable contributions to mobile phone standards in 2024. In all these fields (mobile phone, HFC and visual network Operators and sellers to monitor and adopt developments in encryption.

The goal of this working group is to improve the light movement in the industry in responding to possible future threats, as well as adopting advanced tools and continuing to protect the secretaries of subscribers, traffic safety and the availability of service.

Safe network protocols

Connecting computers, phones, tablets, gaming systems, smart home appliances and all other types of devices requires a safe connection to the service provider. These connections will not be possible without safe network protocols, which enables devices to exchange information reliably.

The history of the powerful Kabbis to secure protocols and devices is evident in the continuous development of document technology. Mer the updates into the protocol safety in Docsis 4.0 networks with digital certificates supported by one of the largest PKIs in the world, and you have a profitable group that keeps subscribers safer in any environment.

Cablebs contributions are not all in our work with industry partners. In 2024, we published the first guidance safety framework profile, which works as a guide for guidance engineers and operators of an independent system and the use of the Border Gate Gate Protocol (BGP). This document was later followed in 2024 with the NIST 2.0 Cyber Security updates. It is also included as an example of a societal framework definition file on the National Center for Cyber Security for Excellence (NCCOE).

This document was an opportunity to assemble experts to form the best way to operate roads and track changes within BGP, how to create and manage the infrastructure of the general resource key (RPKI), how to sign router updates and how to verify the validity of other road updates. Our work was cited in the security guidance as a resource by the owners of government interests in their recent actions and initiatives, while we continue to participate in the working groups of stakeholders from the public and private sectors to apply for the security infrastructure security.

More work of security and privacy Cablebs

The contributions of our security and privacy technologies support the Cablebs mission to provide safe online experiences to the Internet online Internet subscribers. Our work to connect to bridging the digital gap by providing the pole-installed Wi-Fi network to unconnected and unrelated users in the developing regions of the world

In addition, modern contributions to the industry have been published in many areas (for example, Blockchains, privacy, gate devices safety, open source programs, guidance, critical infrastructure, safety of mobile devices) and were accepted by prestigious magazines and conferences (such as , ACM Wisec, IEEE program, IEEE seminar on security and privacy) or recognized by sperm agencies (for example, FCC, NIST, the American White House Office for the National Electronic Personnel).
