After more than a decade of its inauguration, AcroSpire worked with Centregreat to make an amazing and sustainable lighting modification to the NewPort City.
New Port City Footbridge (which is locally referred to as the Millennium Bridge) extends to the USK River in southern Wales, and connecting the Rodney Parade stadium on the eastern bank to the University of Plaza in the west. Its distinctive white crane structures were opened in 2006, praising the city’s artificial heritage while embracing a modern aesthetic. Over the years, this road won the pedestrians and the course with multiple prizes, including the recognition of the British Steel Association and the Civil Engineers Corporation in Wales.
After more than a decade has passed, the infantry bridge handrails require lighting to maintain safety, reduce energy consumption, and protect local habitats.
By working with CentRegreat, the Electrical Engineering Team in the Council, the Acroospire approach was to modify 178 of the current tape covers – which include 28 Watt Fluorescent tubes – with new Chinese LED 12W Chinese units, specified in a warm color temperature of 3000K. The installation was simplified by reusing the current cans, and material waste has been reduced.
Upon necessary, the asymmetric distribution ensures that the corridor remains safely while reducing the spill of light on the river below. The upgrade translation from 28W to 12W per unit translates into power estimated by 57 %, a significant reduction significantly reduces operational costs. The warm LEDE 3000K indicators maintain a welcome atmosphere, eliminating harsh glow and enhances the user’s comfort while crossing.
The newly installed LED solution ensures that the infantry bridge in Nioport City remains a prominent feature on the city horizon. The pedestrians and cyclists benefit from improving vision, which enhances the feeling of safety in all hours.
This is the low energy consumption and targeted lighting that reflects the commitment of Nioport to environmental supervision by avoiding unnecessary light pollution and protecting the home of the river. In the long run, low maintenance requirements support the city’s goal of developing flexible infrastructure while honoring the design of the iconic bridge.
Mike Mikel, Contract Director, Centregreat, comments, “on the New Port Footbridge is an unambiguous symbol to renew the city. Not only promotes the promotion of our reactionary lighting solution, but also maintains the presence of the amazing architectural bridge for years to come.”
