In this regular column, advice and updates about electrical qualifications and recommended training methods, Kevin Sparrow and Industry & Portfolio Manager are looking for in alarts, at various opportunities for electricity to diversify fire and security work.
An important field in which electric contractors can diversify to fire and security systems. In particular, the expansion of expertise to include fire alarm systems provides contractors many important advantages to meet a broader customer base.
In EAL, we cooperated with his colleague PE, the shareholder, Dr. Tom Brooks, a legal engineer and head of the Fire and Security Association (FSA), to develop a number of organized fire qualifications. These prizes help contractors to understand the scope of specialized standards and enable them to understand the legal requirements and safety related to these important systems.
Our first cooperation was the award-winning EAL3 award in assigning, delivering and serving fire detection systems and alarm systems to BS 5839-1.
The 2025 version of the award is scheduled to coincide this year with the revised standard, so it is a great opportunity for electricians to deliver this award, get acquainted with fire alarms in unorganized buildings, and obtain organized and supported qualifications from the industry.
Recently, working with TOM and our partners in industry, we have created an award for fire alarms in housing (EAL L3 Award in the requirements of fire detection and alarm systems in housing). This provides another great way for electricians to re -learn and gain a deeper understanding of these life -saving systems.
The focus of this award is on fire detection and warning systems within the D -F rows, but it also covers the A and C
There is a set of British standards, regulations and actions that apply in these sites, as well as understanding the interaction between BS 5839-1 and BS 5839-6, (for example, in a joint building or HMO). One of the areas where electricians may not be uncommon is how the fire can spread in the building, its spread mechanisms, and the requirements for assessing fire risk. As such, these areas are covered in this important prize.
The more modern novel we developed was the EAL Level 3 Award in assigning, delivering and serving fire detection systems and alarm systems to BS 5839-1.
Focusing again on non -local systems, this is another important prize for electricians/firefighters to learn about the assignment of fire alarm systems, most likely linking them and deepening their understanding.
It is the inspection and test of fire alarm systems that fully cover the understanding and practical skills involved in the assignment of these systems.
We are proud of the prizes we created with TOM, FSA and industrial partners, including Niceic/Certsure. In EAL, we will seek to help you raise the level of these important areas, allowing you to obtain recognized and organized qualifications and grow in your career.
