BMW starts the Steyr Serial Driving Production

For example, BMW manufactures the fifth generation electrical driving systems in its Dinglinging Factory in a separate hall that is not far from the vehicle production facility, and this will remain the case for current models based on multiple power platforms. On the other hand, Gen6 leads “Neue Klasse”, on the other hand, will come from Austria. BMW provided details of the driving systems in February. However, it is still the SSM technology (synchronous machine calculated), which works without permanent magnet. The pre -chain production has been on September 2024.

The production of new electric drives of the Austrian supply chain often includes, but not completely. BMW manufactures central ingredients, such as dizziness, fixed and even inverter itself, in Steyr and Voestalpine electric steel at Linz Factory. However, in the final assembly, all of these ingredients are installed in the aluminum residence that comes from the BMW muse in Landshut and is brought to Steyr from there.

While BMW has already manufactured many ingredients for Gen5 (again with LandShut aluminum boxes, for example), Gen6’s internal production is modern. This is because the Austrian engines factory also enters the field of electrical engineering and established its own clean room environment in which the transformers are built. The component, which is often referred to as energy electronics, converts the direct current from the battery to an alternating trend of electromagnetism in the fixed part of the drive (walking with the current energy requirements of the drive). This should not be done only as much accuracy as possible, but also efficiently – the transfer losses are not available in the form of a waste heat for the engine and should be watered with a larger cooling system. In Gen6, BMW not only depends on the effort of the 800 -volt system, but also on the most efficient semiconductors made of silicone carico (SIC) instead of pure silicone.

BMW created two new assembly lines in Steyr to collect ingredients, where a total of 1000 people work in the new Drive production facility. BMW compares itself the concept of Gen6 standard system engines. “The overall production of Gen6 E-Drive follows the principle of the standard system, which makes it possible to produce derivatives of a very different electrical train for a full set of Neue Klasse models. The standard concept generates positive savings savings and costs in both development and production.”

The new drives from Steyr aims to lead to a particularly good driving features in the “Neue Klasse” electric cars, which emerge from the current generation of electrical driving systems, starting with IX3 from DEBRECEN, followed by the electric salon (called I3) from Munich. In the press statement, BMW offers an example of the future IX3 xdrive 50 compared to the XDrive Five Flem Form: “Energy loss is reduced by 40 percent, by 20 percent and weight by 10 percent. All this makes a major contribution to the development of BMW almost. It is expected that IX3 XDrive 50 ranges for WLTP up to 800 km. The first global IX3 XDrive 50 shortly before IAA movement at the beginning of September.

“Today, we lay the foundations for the future of the BMW group,” said BMW Board of Directors for Milan Nedelkovic’s production on the occasion of the start of the series. “As the first Gen6 Electric Drive production site, Plant Steyr is essential in Neue Klasse and the continuous development of our global production network.” “What we launch here today is more than just an increase in production. It is a fixed commitment to Europe, technology and the future,” added Claus von Malltec, BMW AG engine head and head of the Steyr Factory.
