Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) shared more pictures of the new LAFA 5 model, after mentioning the hatchback earlier today.
Cao Li, Vice President of the New Energy Vehicle Manufacturer Company (NEV), has published three photos on Weibo today, revealing details about the side file in LAFA 5 and back.
The model is characterized by the installation of Lidar on its surface, while its rear design indicates that it is a BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Seagull.
Seagull ranks among the best -selling models in BYD, where 329,410 units have been sold from January to July, according to the data collected by CNEVPOST.
Cao wrote on “LAFA 5” is the “Leapmotor” gift that it provides to young people around the world on the tenth anniversary of its founding, as Cao wrote on Weibo, which hints to the model in Chinese and external markets.
“We want to build a dream car for young people who refuse to settle, agree, or be ordinary!” He said.
“The global personal strategy is a new producer of Lava 5, I see you in Munich on September 8,” said Cao.
Earlier today, Leapmotor mentioned for the first time LAFA 5 while announcing the delivery numbers in August, saying that the model would appear for the first time at the Munich Motor Show on September 8.
LAFA 5 will put Leapmotor inside the Hatchback Competitive Market, as it competes against models including Volkswagen ID.3, Saic MG4, BYD SEGULL and NIO Inc (NYSE: NIO) Firefly EV.
Leapmotor will have four series – A, B, C and D – over the next three years, covering 13 to 14 models ranging between 60,000 yuan (8,410 dollars) and 300,000 yuan, its founder, president and CEO of Zhu Jiangming said last December.
The current Leapmotor collection in China includes T03, B10, B01, C01, C10, C11 and C16.
The T03, B01 and B10 are only served as battery electric cars (Bevs), while other models are also characterized by an extended electric vehicle (EREV).
Leapmotor delivered 57,066 cars in August, which represents its fourth consecutive month of high delivery operations, according to the data issued today.
This is the second time that Leapmotor has exceeded the monthly delivery landmark of 50,000 units, which represents an increase of 88.31 percent on an annual basis and 13.84 percent from July.
