The Tesla Model Y has reclaimed an elusive sales crown in one of the most competitive markets, besting major rivals and strong rivals to reclaim the crown that was once its shoehorn.
With more electric cars hitting the market and some at better prices, Tesla’s Model Y has been presented with some very attractive options.
This is especially wise in Europe and China, where local car companies are offering attractive and cheap electric cars as alternatives to Tesla.
However, in September, the Model Y was able to compete for the top EV sales position in Europe.
In September, it achieved sales of 25,938 cars, and although it was down 8.6 percent compared to the same month in 2024, it was enough to rank as the best-selling car in the European market, Automotive News reported.
500-mile test proves why Tesla Model Y still insults its European rivals
There are four cars that topped the European EV sales rankings for any month this year: the Renault Clio, which took three titles, the Dacia Sandero, which won four monthly sales titles, and the Volkswagen T-Roc, which was the best-selling car on the market in August.
The Clio ranked second in September with sales of 20,146 cars.
Despite the Model Y’s strong September performance, which was the first monthly sales crown of the year, the car did not make the top three EVs in Europe this year. It is still driven by Sandero, Clio and T-Roc.
Despite this, Tesla’s Model Y is still likely to be one of the world’s best-selling cars, if not the best, of the year.
In the United States, it dominated electric car sales charts and was one of the most popular cars in the region. The same is true in China, where the Model Y faces more competition than in Europe, but is very attractive due to its premium look and feel, as well as its tech offerings.
The Model Y has been the world’s best-selling vehicle for the past two years, overtaking widely popular gas models and electric vehicles from around the world.
Tesla also just completed the best three-month sales period in its history, delivering nearly half a million vehicles from July to September.
