Charged electric vehicles | Skymark Refuelers offers 7,000-gallon electric jet fuel

Skymark Refuelers has announced the launch of what it says is the largest electric aircraft refueling company in the United States, EV Refueler.

The 7,000-gallon (26,498 liter) vehicle is designed to support sustainable refueling operations.

The company said the EV refueling device “represents a step forward in the electrification of airport ground support equipment.”

The first customer for the fueling unit will be Clay Lacy Aviation, with support from World Fuel Services. The three companies say the initiative reflects a collaborative effort to advance decarbonization and modernize ground fueling infrastructure across U.S. airports.

The EV’s livery prominently features the Clay Lacy Aviation logo and sustainable aviation fuel branding featuring the traditional aviation fuel colors of blue and green, as the SAF does not have its own global color or symbol.

The new EV fueler combines an electric drivetrain with a 7,000-gallon fuel capacity. It features a PTO shaft driven pump designed to ensure reliable and efficient fuel transfer and is fully compliant with National Fire Protection Agency standards. Skymark said the thermal management system protects vehicle performance and extends component life.

Additionally, standard intelligent monitoring and built-in safety systems provide enhanced visibility, control and confidence for the operator.

“Since establishing our sustainability program in 2019, we have continually sought new ways to move the industry forward and support our company’s environmental goals,” said Doug Wilson, chief business officer of Clay Lacy Aviation FBOs. “This impressively engineered refueling unit sets a new standard in all-electric ground service equipment and allows us to better serve our customers while being good neighbors to the communities surrounding our airports.”
