Donald Duck drives an electric car – at least in Germany

In the story, Donald’s old reliable car no longer meets modern environmental standards, prompting him to take action. Using a self-made “multi-function vehicle greening kit”, he converted the 313 into an electric model – with usually messy results.

“Donald Duck proves once again that progress and chaos often go hand in hand,” said German publisher Jörg Riskin. “With ‘E-313,’ we deliver a story that humorously reflects a current issue while maintaining the classic Duckburg spirit.”

It’s unclear whether or not the beloved Disney character will make the same environmentally conscious decision in other countries as well. For example, in the United States, where policies are more likely to push Donald to stick with his old car or buy a new gasoline car.

On a side note: Donald probably won’t be the first duck in Duckburg to drive an electric car. It appears that Grandma Duck was driving a 1916 Detroit Electric, although Disney itself has not officially confirmed this.
