Tip: Poor selection of wiring methods.
Running the yellow 12/2 NM cable outside to provide power to an outdoor lighting device (luminaire) is a violation of Sec. 334.12(B)(4) which prohibits the use of NM cables in wet or damp locations. We can debate whether this outdoor location is considered a “wet site” or a “wet site” but it is definitely one of them! It’s definitely not a dry place. NM cable cannot be installed here. Another problem is that there is no way to support or secure the NM cable as specified in Sec. 334.30. NM cables must be supported and secured by staples, straps, hangers and cable ties listed and specified to secure snd support or similar fittings designed and installed so as not to damage the cable. This cable is wrapped around the cutting work.
