The Armor Group is advertising the fortified Lucid Air as the “world’s fastest armored vehicle.” In its original form, the luxury version of the Lucid Motors Air accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 1.89 seconds. Armor Group says the military-grade armor installed in the vehicle is “10 times stronger than ballistic steel and five times lighter, allowing the U.S. Armor Group Air Sapphire to maintain a top speed of over 200 mph.”
Bulletproofing comes at a price: While Lucid is asking $249,000 for the Air Sapphire, US Armor Group is asking $475,000. Lucid Motors released specs for the original Air Sapphire flagship model about a year ago. With its three motors, the system output is 920 kilowatts and the EPA range is 427 miles (687 kilometers). The powertrain was developed and built in-house by Lucid.
For those with 007 fantasies and a budget to match, Armor Group says it can incorporate an impressive array of countermeasures such as electric door handles, pepper spray dispensers, concealed weapon ports, poison gas protection/detection, and armor upgraded to stop high-powered guns, grenades, and explosive devices.
Inside, the car includes what the company says is an “unhackable” internet/Wi-Fi security suite, as well as “advanced” technology that “continuously scans for nearby threats.” According to the weapons makers, this technology gathers intelligence from more than a million sources, including local police scanners and firefighting equipment.
And if that wasn’t enough, a one-touch communication feature allows the driver to call a group of people for help – perhaps in the US, but who knows? Maybe the group is already ready to help in any war zone anywhere in stylish luxury. The mind is amazed at the possibilities.
