The Steel Work Pants are made from Ripstop fabric, which is durable yet flexible and ideal for active work environments. Rugged Flex™ technology built into the fabric allows for ease of movement, making it easier for traders to perform tasks that require bending, sitting and stretching without restrictions.
Knee protection
One of the standout features of these pants are the pockets and secure knee pads made of Flex Cordura™ fabric, which comply with EN14404-1:2024 dimensions. Various types of commonly available knee pads will be placed in the pockets, and in the spring of 2025, Carhartt will also launch its own line of companion knee pads designed specifically for these steel pants.
Knee injuries are a common concern for tradespeople due to frequent kneeling, squatting, and working on hard surfaces. Knee pads provide important cushion against hard surfaces, reducing the risk of injuries from impacts, helping maintain proper alignment and reducing stress on the knee joints. Consistent use of knee protection can also prevent chronic conditions such as bursitis and arthritis, which are common among traders who do not use proper knee protection.
Each pair of pants in the collection is designed to provide maximum comfort. It falls slightly below the waist and features a straight leg opening that easily fits over work boots. Articulated knees allow traders to sit comfortably without pulling the fabric or restricting movement. Designed to provide a comfortable, flexible fit, the ergonomic elastic waistband accommodates movement and prevents discomfort during long hours of work, while reinforced Rugged Flex Cordura® fabric enhances comfort and movement, reducing the risk of tearing during strenuous activities.
