Obituary
Franklin Otto Wedge, 67, of Bailey, Colorado, a commercial electrician and lifelong government employee, died Friday, October 26, 2012. Frank was born November 1, 1944, in West Bend, Wisconsin. He was the son of Frederick and Lucille Wedge. After graduating from high school, Frank joined the U.S. Air Force in September 1962. He was honorably discharged in 1966. He married Patricia May Encke on November 5, 1966 in Idaho. The couple settled in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and had three daughters. Frank completed the Commercial Electrician Apprenticeship Program and joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in January 1971. On February 1, 1971, Frank and Pat moved their family to Aurora, Colorado. Frank found work as a full-time commercial electrician, and over the next thirty-five years he worked building numerous hospitals, hotels and landmarks in Denver. Always a sociable person, Frank became active in the neighborhood. He was appointed to the Aurora Planning Commission in 1977. Frank served on the Aurora City Council from 1981 to 1993. He was a Colorado State Senator from 1994 to 2000 and a State Representative from 2000 to 2004. He was elected to the Commission Arapahoe County in November 2004. Frank retired as commissioner on January 3, 2012. Frank and Pat moved to Bailey, Colorado, on January 5. Frank leaves behind his wife Pat, three daughters, Frances (Jeff) Thompson, Pamela (John) Williams, and Patrice (Kurt) Thoresen, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers and one sister. Viewing will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 1 at Newcomer-East Chapel.
