The aforementioned custom-designed Mercedes electric truck offers a payload capacity of 923 kilograms and is said to range up to 321 kilometers on a single charge. It will therefore likely have the 60 kWh battery pack that Mercedes has been using in the eVito since 2021.
According to FedEx, the new vehicles will replace 31 Vito 114 CDI diesel vehicles. The delivery company estimates that the switch “will avoid approximately 148 metric tons of tailpipe emissions annually.”
The company also confirms that it is already replacing all end-of-life vehicles used in last-mile logistics, i.e. parcel deliveries and vans, with electric vehicles. The company wants to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040.

Furthermore, FedEx’s South Pacific Regional Center in Singapore will soon receive solar panels, which will be able to cover more than half of the facility’s total electricity needs. The CEP provider notes that this will also help with the transition to electric mobility.
