Cablelabs and technicians actively contribute to the BroadBand Reference Design Group (RDK-B), an open source software platform published by many CABLELABS member companies for connected home experiences. The RDK-B is the basis for the main residential portal features, including the integration of the STB, and the management of the Internet and Wi-Fi in each of the one-family homes and multi-housing units (MDUS).
As a staple of neutral programs from sellers and open people, RDK-B provides flexibility, transparency and control of the broad-term infrastructure that is closely consistent with the Cablelabs mission to push the innovative innovation widely.
Raise networking networks with Easymesh
In 2024, the RDK-B community launched a major initiative to integrate support for the Wi-Fi-Fi-Fi-Fi-Fi standard, which prompted Cablelabs to participate directly. As contributors for a long time to Wi-Fi Easymesh specifications, Cablelabs are uniquely developed to enhance the implementation of the RDK-B and help ensure the expertise of the network of non-complied networks and sellers for operators and subscribers.
Wi-Fi Easymesh is a major development in home communication. Unlike royal network solutions, Wi-Fi Easymesh is an open standard, which allows multi-sewn intercourse between access points, extensions and units. This is especially important for operators looking to be free from vertically integrated ecosystems that reduce flexibility and slow innovation.
By unifying the network behavior-including the formation of Tobology, channel management and domain guidance-Wi-Fi Easymesh gives operators a common framework for Wi-Fi network management and improve them through various devices. It also opens the door for competitive purchases, reducing the dependency of the seller and the user’s consistent experiences through hardware brands and fixed program versions.
Wi-Fi offers easy contact and smooth on board the plane
The first Kapabzpabs contributed to RDK-B was the first open source application in the industry for the Wi-Fi Alliance from Wi-Fi Easy Connect ™, also known as the DPP. This teacher provides support for zero contact on the plane (ZTO) to RDK-B, allowing the safe and easy network registration to use via the QR-code without asking users to know or enter Wi-Fi accreditation data.
DPP is especially suitable for modern network bulletins, as it should be added new devices (for example, access points, internet end points, fast, safe and reliable. With Wi-Fi Easy Connect now part of the Easymesh RDK-B Wi-Fi staple, operators can provide a smoother experience for the final users while enhancing the network safety through modern methods of provision. Again, Cablebs is uniquely placed to contribute to the Wi-Fi Easy Connect contact for our continuous leadership and our specifications while developing it in the Wi-Fi alliance.
Cablesabs has publicly offered integration at RDK Summit 2025 in London, where she presented a distinctive technology that highlights the importance of smooth and safe in connected home environments. Meanwhile, my colleague Ben Karlson hosted a kiosk, a live demonstration, offering a quick look at open source Kabul contributions and their impact on the RDK-B capabilities.
Strategic synergy between Cablelabs and RDK-B
Cablebs and RDK-B Society represents a natural synergy. Both ecological systems are designed about the values of inter -operation, openness and developmental innovation. RDK-B provides a powerful publishing vehicle, and Cablebs brings a deep well of standards, industry coordination and development technology development.
By contributing directly to the RDK-B, Cablebs can help ensure its latest innovations-many of which are defined in cooperation with operators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMS) and international standards-premium production and via member networks. The result is a faster course than specifications to field publication, which enables member companies to move more lightly and confidently.
RDK-B also takes advantage of Cablelabs and long-term vision. Our work is guided with Wi-Fi Easymesh, Wi-Fi Easy Connect and Wi-Fi broader unanimously in industry and technical accuracy, helping RDK-B applications resistant to the future and comply with the operator’s priorities.
RDK-B as a strategic distribution platform
Since the RDK-B serves as a network software platform for many Cablebs members, it provides a convincing car to provide and expand future innovations through the bold ecosystem. Beyond Wi-Fi Easymesh and Wi-Fi Easy Connect, Cablebs detects actively opportunities to take advantage of RDK-B to post:
By closely compatible with the RDK-B and strong and stand-up contribute, Cablembs helps ensure access to a safe, flexible and ready-made wide platform-develops along with the needs of modern living families.
Together, RDK-B and Cablelabs builds the foundation for the generation next to the wide range. If you are using the RDK-B platform, be sure to search for these new features and features.
