My flights in my non -Tesla (EV) electric car (EV) has been risky over the past few summer. There were several times as it was intermittent charging or level 2, which saves about 25 miles of the range per hour, has made my longer travel long time take. In 2025, though, in addition to an important building for shipping stations, North America’s shipping standard (NACS), which was developed by Tesla.
NACS needs a transformer for all except 2000 other than Teslas, and only the newer generation charger can only accommodate NACS. I learned that lesson earlier in the summer: No tesla can ship only V3 250KW or V4.
Will NACS make a difference in the charger and faster charging while I was on the road? It is time to find out.
NACS experience
During the summer, my family and I am the Y -style garage and move from Florida to Connecticut. We explore the area from our model home with Chevy Bolt 2017. These summer excavations contain only 30 amps, so adding a 40 amp, 240 volts was not contained. Hubby has installed a weather -resistant port on the outer surface of our shed, and we have recommended in these household houses for most of the times we spent in our summer Bangle by the BROK and State forest. Like many EV drivers, our pattern is connection when we get home and wake up a fully charged battery.
This scenario disintegrates dust, however, if we’ll be making a wild trip. Last month, Cape Code was. This month was 11 days in northern New England, where the first station began in the north of Centicut and moves via Massachusetts, New Hampsheer and to Maine. There are three nights with friends, we enjoy their northern summer spaces before heading to a week in Vermont.
The wonderful Tesla system was the available charger to be only available for Teslas, but through a newly purchased NACS transformer tucked in its own corner of Hatchback, we were ready to hit the road, head to the northern country, and test our luck. Will slow stumbling will be more efficient this summer season? I have created a spreadsheet of fast charging options, just to increase our success.
Seabrook, New Hampshire: a little scene
We withdrew to Seabroook, New Hampshire and Brook Casino Compound. After a little wandering, we found Tesla Superchargers. It is open for vehicles that support Tesla and NACS with CCS compatibility. Getting the charger to acknowledge our current Tesla account, as it is recognized, a little from the ordeal. The screen wanted differently to enter a serial number on the side of the charger or wipe the quick response icon. We had to move the bombing twice to a new space because the previous failed attempts referred to to the reader of Tesla that the spot was busy. But the third number was golden – Vola! I got to know my QR code and final click instead of the famous Mosul with the attached NACS transformer.
While the bolt was shipped, we entered the casino by swooping the electric doors and in a wide room full of gambling machines. At noon, several bars were open. The sponsors were a pie, wearing inappropriate clothes, and they were achieved in the dim light. After the fast bathroom stopped, we ventured abroad and sat at the rest of the bolt.
In 21 minutes, we got 10 kilowatt hours of energy for $ 5.22. 80 %, it will be enough to move us to the Kennebunkport destination, Min.
Shipping next to the Rachel Carson wildlife shelter
The Opplet rock area in Kennebunkport operates in parallel with Maine Bay, amazing tidal height and up to 15 feet. Our host was a friend of Florida invited us to her home. Her big family greeted us warmly, and we spent the evening in telling stories and breaking the bread.
I absorb the bolt with happiness electrons from the outlet in the barn. Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refugee was outside – herbs flowing into the current, which is Nans Nawras leaking, glowing from the current. We added 60 miles expected overnight.

From there, we headed north to Augusta, and Maine and another Tesla charger equipped to accept our NACS adapter. This time the screen determined me immediately – no need to register through the fast response code. When we were creating the accusation, the Tesla technician called us. He was fixing one of the sixteen charger and told us that this site did not require a NACS transformer – had an internal transformer. It was a magic berth. This conductor was thin and elegant – a world away from the usual and much easier NACS.

We ate a nice snack in the 99 restaurant in the same car park. More than 51 minutes we added 26.6 kilos of WhatsApp at 0.53 dollars/kilo and an hour, bringing the total $ 14.12. We jumped in the car, with just 30 minutes until our next destination.
A charge from the lake to the mountains
In the Sendscot Lake area in Palermo, Maine, we were pleased to connect an outdoor outlet in our friend’s rural hut, which was promoted. We sat on the dock and watched the ducks. When looking at the wall of the windows to Lake Cove, we nourished the Premaviera pasta one night and move the next day. We toured the Belfast Port directed towards the arts, tastes vegetable lunch and walking along the waterfront. The bolt retreated because it inhaled the electrons.

Before we knew that, we were waving goodbye to North Conway, New Hampshire, where we meet a clean technique reader for lunch. A bank of 8 Tesla Superchargers awaits us. We noticed the procrastination number, and we pressed this symbol on the Tesla app, and connected it. While the NACS transformer does not have ate in a “Mexican” restaurant (very American), we talked to our new friend, and accumulated 23.09 kW per hour in one hour and 7 minutes – up to 92 %!
I took a turn to remove the conductor and separate the NACS adapter from it; It was not a graceful scene, as I prepared the conductor between my legs and withdrawing the transformer with all the laws. But I did that, which gave me confidence to know that I can use NACS successfully if the man is not with me.
My brother Waitsfield, Vermont Home, located on the side of a mountain and looking for the valley to the MAD River ski area, was our final destination on the trip. It took nearly three other hours of travel to reach the northern New England oasis, where we immediately reached an outdoor plug. Here we relax with friends and spent a week to taste horizons, breathing in fun 802.

Our shipping for the rest of the trip was in non -light locations, but getting the NACS rapid charging capacity over the previous miles made all the difference in our peace of mind. Yes, we relied on the kindness of friends and their outer household plugs, for sure. But we were able to successfully pass the area on many highways from the ocean to the lake to the mountains and valleys, with a stop of about one hour at each time to charge it.
Slow down stumbling without scope-a highly improved EV wild flight experience. I will do it again!
