An electrical fire affecting two apartment buildings is now under control in Thorncliffe Park

An electrical fire at two apartment buildings in Thorncliffe Park has now been brought under control, according to Toronto Fire Services.

The fire is affecting electrical power at 11 Thorncliffe Park Dr. and 21 Overlea Blvd., which are two connected buildings, according to Alex Vashkevich, public information officer for Toronto Fire Services.

One of the electrical panels caught fire and the fire spread to the walls of the basement, where the electrical panels for both buildings are located.

There were no flames or smoke above the ground, Vashkevich said.

Toronto Hydro was asked to cut power to both buildings, while Toronto Fire Services requested a shelter bus for residents.

According to the TTC, buses will not stop between Overlea Boulevard at Thorncliffe Park Drive (west) and Thorncliffe Park Drive (east) due to the fire.
