The EQC has disappeared from the Mercedes lineup, according to UK magazine Auto Express. The EQC is no longer listed on the manufacturer’s website – we couldn’t find it on either the German or UK Mercedes sites. A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson confirmed the EQC’s demise when asked by electrive.
There were already rumors in 2022 that EQC production in Bremen would end in 2023 – at the time, Mercedes did not want to comment on “speculation about future model series and their planning”. But that is precisely what happened. “EQC production ended as planned in the second quarter of 2023,” a Mercedes spokesperson told Electricive.
Models that can still be ordered after production of stock vehicles ends. According to the MB Passion blog, there was a 24 percent discount on stock vehicles available at the beginning of the year. They may have all been sold out by now, making the EQC history.
However, it remains unclear what will happen with the EQC model name. For a long time, Mercedes was expected to use the abbreviation for the electric C-Class and rename the successor to the first EQC the EQC SUV, in line with the two larger model series. Mercedes has already ditched the EQ name for the electric G-Class. The model is sold as the G 580 with EQ technology, not the EQG 580, so it’s unclear what future electric mid-range models will be called.
