New York granted $ 3 million to companies to help connect electric cars to the network. One of the beneficiaries is Voltpost, and he specializes in converting Lamposts to level charging stations 2. The state is now ranked second behind California for the number of active public charging stations.

New York electric vehicle mutation began to appear a lot like California.

The state now has the second largest number of public shipping stations (nearly 18,000) in the country after California (approximately 58,000). Its unique challenges are also attracting unique solutions in a very transparent time for the EV sector.

A few days after the approval of the Big Beautiful Bill from the Trump Administration – which cuts the EV tax credits and withdraws federal support for clean energy programs – New York State sent a completely different message.

The state granted millions in the integration of its auto network, which focuses on the EV and the network. Part of the grant went into a project that transforms the current street infrastructure, such as LampPosts, into Curbside charging stations.

New York City streets and heavy urban planning are facing long challenges for EV. But now, the city adopts innovative carca charging designs designed for its unique environment.

Of 3 million dollars granted on Tuesday by the New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), nearly $ 800,000 went to Voltpost, a specialist in converting lamp posts in the streets into levels of 2 levels.

                                    10

                            Source: Voltpost

Voltpost is already active in New York City, as well as Detroit and Ok Park, Illinois. The company says it can convert Lampost to a 2 -level charging station in less than an hour, avoid loud construction and reduce costs.

Shipping is not smooth like Shahal Tesla, as the owners can connect and walk away. Users still have to authenticate with an application using the fast response code. But most importantly, these stations are saving space and can help the prosperous EV fleet in the city with more places to connect them.

Many other shipping companies have their own creative solutions, making New York City a hot point for pavement charger innovation. The Brooklyn -based ITSELECTRIC company directs the elegant levels that mix in the streets. Google -backed Gravity plans to plan the fast charging devices that seem compressed such as typical level 2 units, thanks to the smart packaging. The pavement shipments from Chargepoint and the Canadian company FLO have become an increasingly common scene in the city.

NYSERDA has allocated another $ 4 million, which will be given to companies that can “solve data collection and transfer data and operational challenges facing facilities when combining electric cars, regardless of the supplier, with the electric network.” This is in addition to 21 million dollars announced last year to build fast DC shipping stations along the highways of the state and 60 million dollars compared to 267 fast -charging booths in New York City.

Passengers have problems, though. One of them is gas cars that operate EV charging points. While Curbside’s charger in New York City is proud of impressive statistics, with 99 % of operating time and more than 70 %, approximately 20 % of EV sites are prohibited by gas vehicles, according to city data.

However, innovations such as Voltpost’s help in bread in the social fabric in New York City and we hope the rest of the United States will also be. If the pavement shipment works smoothly here, this may be a plan for other large American cities.

Just two years ago, the scene in New York was largely imagined. I have waited in long lines in a charger in Brooklyn, and sometimes I have paid across the town only to find a station available and have no payment fees. Today, it is a different story. The increasing network of Tesla charger, the state -funded EvOLVE NY stations and the expanding RIRE network, has made fast charging very easier.

The shift is remarkable. Shipping stations have become everywhere, innovations that are shipped along with the sidewalk indicate more exciting EV.

Nissan is the latest victim of BYD’s “liberation battle” against gas-powered cars. Following BYD’s deep price cuts this year, Nissan is closing a factory in China as it struggles to keep up.

As is the case for many legacy automakers, China is a critical sales market for Nissan. Nearly a third of Nissan’s global sales and net profits come from China.

After exiting the top five automakers (by market share) in China in 2022, Nissan’s problems are worsening. Nissan sales fell by 16% in China last year, and this trend continues until 2024.

Nissan sales fell another 2.8% last month, with 64,233 vehicles sold in China. The company cut its guidance by 23% last year, with 800,000 vehicles expected to be sold in fiscal 2024. According to Nikkei, Nissan will do so with one fewer plant.

Nissan has closed the doors of its factory in Changzhou, as the factory manufactures more cars than it can sell.

The facility represents about 8% of Nissan’s production capacity in China, and its annual capacity is about 130,000 units. According to the report, the factory will stop working on Friday.

Nissan Ariya electric SUV (Source: Nissan)

Under its joint venture with China’s Dongfeng Motor Company, Nissan has eight factories in the region. Its total annual capacity is about 1.6 million cars, double Nissan’s expected sales numbers for the fiscal year 2024.

Nissan closes its factory in China amid BYD’s electric vehicle price war

The plant’s closure comes as Nissan struggles to keep pace with China’s increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.

BYD, China’s largest automaker, began a “liberation fight” against ICE vehicles earlier this year. The goal is to continue to capture market share of gas-powered vehicles with lower-priced electric vehicles. So far, it seems to be working.

BYD (Dolphin Mini) Seagull EV (Source: Nissan)

BYD has cut prices significantly while introducing lower-priced EV models. The cheapest one, the Seagull EV, starts at less than $10,000 (69,800 yuan).

BYD CEO Wang Chunfu said electric vehicles have entered a “knockout round” and that the next two years will be crucial for automakers to catch up.

As lower-priced, more advanced models hit the market, BYD expects the market share of co-brands (such as Nissan) to decline from about 40% to 10% in China.

Nissan isn’t the only legacy automaker feeling the heat. Japanese rivals Toyota, Mitsubishi and Honda have also withdrawn from the Chinese market amid declining sales.

Nissan EV Concepts (Source: Nissan)

Meanwhile, BYD is looking to expand its global footprint after outpacing China’s electric vehicle market. BYD is close to closing a deal to build a factory in Mexico that will be among the largest in the country. The company expects to sell 50,000 cars in Mexico this year.

BYD is also expanding into the home country of Nissan and Toyota. According to data from the Japan Automobile Importers Association, BYD accounted for more than 20% of Japan’s electric vehicle imports in January.

With the introduction of long-range, lower-priced models, BYD’s momentum is expected to continue. China’s leading automaker is also expanding into new segments such as pickup trucks (see the new Shark PHEV), midsize electric SUVs, and luxury.
