Users can now connect external devices such as cameras or additional controllers without sacrificing charging capabilities, thanks to the improved USB-C design.

USB-C port specifications and recommended cables for Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2’s USB-C ports adhere to modern USB-C standards, supporting high-speed data transfer, fast charging, and various connectivity options. The bottom USB-C port supports USB 3.2 for high-speed data transfer, power delivery up to 60W, and video output up to 4K at 60Hz when docked, making it the main hub for charging and display connectivity. On the other hand, the top USB-C port offers USB 2.0 data transfer and Power Delivery charging, which is ideal for powering the console in portable or tabletop mode or connecting accessories. Although the top port does not support video output, this dual port setup provides additional flexibility – allowing gamers to charge and use accessories at the same time.

For optimal performance, it is recommended to use USB-C cables that support USB 3.2 Gen 2 or higher with Power Delivery capabilities. High-quality cables with reinforced connectors and shielding will ensure stable data transmission and power delivery, reducing the risk of damage or connection issues. Official Nintendo Switch 2 accessories and certified third-party USB-C cables are the safest options to ensure compatibility and longevity.

When selecting cables or accessories, users should look for the following specifications:

USB-C to USB-C cables support USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 3/4 for maximum data throughput. Support Power Delivery (PD) of at least 60W to ensure fast charging. Durable construction with reinforced connectors to prevent wear and tear. Compatibility with DisplayPort Alternate Mode when connected to its docking station.

Using cables that meet these specifications will allow gamers to take full advantage of the enhanced USB-C ports on Nintendo Switch 2, ensuring seamless charging, data transfer, and use of accessories without compromising the integrity of the console’s hardware.

Detailed USB-C specifications for the original Nintendo Switch

The original Nintendo Switch, released in 2017, was equipped with a single USB-C port located on the bottom edge of the device. Although this port was USB-C compatible in appearance, its basic implementation was unique to Nintendo. The port supports USB 2.0 data transfer speeds, which are limited to 480Mbps, which is much slower than modern USB-C standards. This limited bandwidth affected the range of accessories that could be used reliably with the console.

Power delivery on the original adapter’s USB-C port is rated at up to 15V/2.6A, which is approximately 39W. This was enough to charge the device and connect to the official Nintendo docking station but didn’t leave much room for simultaneous charging and use of accessories. Additionally, the proprietary nature of the port means that many third-party accessories and docks have had to reverse-engineer the specifications to function properly, leading to compatibility issues and, in some cases, hardware damage due to improper power delivery.

USB-C specs comparison: Nintendo Switch 2 vs. Original Switch

The Nintendo Switch 2’s USB-C ports represent a huge leap forward in connectivity compared to the original Switch. The main differences include:

Number of ports: The Switch 2 has two USB-C ports (bottom and top), while the original Switch only has one bottom USB-C port. Data transfer speeds: The Switch 2 supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds of up to 10Gbps, while the original Switch is limited to USB 2.0 speeds of 480Mbps. Power Delivery: The Switch’s 2 ports provide power delivery of up to 20V/3A (60W), enabling faster charging and simultaneous accessory use. The original switch supports up to 15V/2.6A (39W). Display Output: The original adapter requires a docking station (either official or compatible third party) to output video to your TV or monitor. It doesn’t use standard DisplayPort Alternate mode, but rather a proprietary video protocol that third-party accessory makers engineered backwards.
In contrast, the Switch 2 supports DisplayPort Alternate mode, but testing has shown that it is blocked for direct video output to the screen and only works when connected to the official dock. Many third-party platforms that worked with the original Switch are not compatible with the Switch 2.

These enhanced USB-C specifications on Switch 2 provide users with a more versatile and reliable connectivity experience, and accommodate modern gaming peripherals and charging needs.

Impact on user experience and accessories

The upgraded dual USB-C design on Nintendo Switch 2 improves flexibility across handheld, tabletop, and TV modes. In handheld mode, the top USB-C port allows for convenient charging while keeping the bottom port free for accessories, extending uninterrupted playtime. Tabletop mode takes advantage of the ability to operate the console from either port, providing more freedom in setup and placement. In TV mode, the bottom USB-C port provides faster USB 3.2 data transfer and 4K video output through the charging dock for a smoother, more immersive gaming experience.

However, some users may notice that the controller runs warmer when docked, because it is operating at higher performance levels. To reduce overheating, ensure proper ventilation by keeping the dock in an open area, removing any dust from the vents, and avoiding closed settings. For better cooling, use a 40Gbps USB-C extension cable to move the controller off the base, improving airflow and preventing heat build-up during extended gaming sessions.

Additional connectivity features for Nintendo Switch 2

In addition to the USB-C improvements, the Nintendo Switch 2 offers other connectivity improvements that complement its upgraded ports. The dock now includes an Ethernet port, providing stable wired Internet connections for online gaming. Wireless capabilities are enhanced with Wi-Fi 6 support, providing faster and more reliable wireless networks.

The Switch 2 also supports microSD Express cards, allowing for expanded internal storage with faster read and write speeds, which is essential for handling larger Switch games and new content. Enhanced hardware connectivity enables new features such as GameChat, a built-in audio and video communications system activated via the Joy-Con 2 controller’s dedicated button, enhancing multiplayer interaction.

Conclusion: What the USB-C upgrade means for gamers

Written by Don Schultz, a great technical specialist, BICSI Tech, Instc, Instf, Fluke Networks Copper/Fiber CCTT CECTT CERTTTITIDIED

It is here! TRUECABLE offers a Keystone Jack Surface after a large number of studied development and design. It is referred to as “Jack Biscuit” by many, this surface box seems to be unimportant to bring a great deal of diversity to install the organized cables for home owners through major information technology departments and even professional installations. By allowing the regulatory and vocational position of the cable, one may think that the main surface installation box will be a standard relationship and HOM that will work with any Keystone socket of any factory. There is the problem; These boxes of the roof mountain are usually ownership! Well, I changed all of that.

What is the roof mountain box?

You may not be aware of the concept of the surface Keystone box. In a traditional organizer cable system, the communications cable is usually installed in a correction plate with key evidence in the “end of the head” and the cables end in the remote ports, and they were finished on the keystone cranes installed in the wall panels. This is usually in the wall and is hidden from view. Below is an example of the distant way and what will look like if you can see inside the wall:

Wall wall updated with two keystone cranes. Blue cable is the permanent steel copper structure cable coming from the correction plate. Gray cables are correction ropes.

This arrangement can be very limited, however. You need a wall and reach inside the wall. Well, what if you don’t have a useful wall or if the wall is concrete? This is what the roof mountain boxes are!

Below is an example of the same type of preparation, as it provides remote outlets, but this time the whole cable is visible and the square that carries the keys outside any wall:

The same concept of arrangement inside the wall, not only in the wall!

This is what the inside, before the top box cover is cut. Note that we have a large foundation stone without a traditional Keystone Most tool. These are task details that we will enter later.

Why use Keystone Jacks is important

As I noticed, the SCS (structured cable system) is something that I confirm a little. The reason is related to reliability, performance and diversity. When served with difficult installations, many installations (even professionals) are confused about how to maintain durability and performance Permanent links It extends.

Permanent links (permanently installed cable, which is not intended to be transferred), is the founder of the concept of a SCS was built correctly.

The installed, due to the lack of a useful wall or a concrete wall, may be simply finished a standard plug of 8p8C (also known as RJ45) on the cable that is constantly installed copper. This is not a good idea, and it may lead to reliability and performance problems if not perfectly implemented. Even when completely finished, the RJ45S which is completely ended with the hand is not known for their ability to withstand frequent delivery and delivery without developing reliable problems. Another issue is to cut the cable and finish the hand in this way also steals you from ingenuity! For more information on this critical topic, please see RJ45 opposite Keystone: What is the difference and which should you be used?

Thus, we have the Mount Surface Fund option instead of the standardization of the hand to finish the hand. This is very important. Here why:

Surface installation boxes allow the installation of a high -performance category Ethernet keystone jackWhich corresponds to the reluctance and has a multi -chlorine vinyl plate (printed circuit board) inside. You can use length Correction cable This fits the installation better than the surface installation box to the final device.

Performance, diversity and reliability are preserved

Well, enough of the generalities surrounding the Jabal Al -Safat boxes. Let’s talk about taking Treucable studied on this old idea.

Product Overview: Truecable (SKU: SMBWHT2P)

When we started to design this surface installation box, we wanted a square to accept any cornerstone, regardless of the type or shield. We targeted global consensus, and we have achieved it.

Below are the main features:

It accepts the design of at least tools, and the design free of tools, large diameter cables (up to 9 mm) is compatible with all the standard Keystone Stp/STP socket and pre -extended ropes. Nylon).

Guarantee The circle of the appropriate diameter is the right cable At all times, use the institution’s ports stickers, use the surface installation boxes when there are no practical alternatives to use the traditional Keystone Associate Panel inside the wall when working with protected cables and key basins, the correction ropes associated with them must be of the same type (category, for example), and it is protected to help the link on the ground flexibility of the terrestrial flexibility

Linking the surface mountain box to the floor is not a “thing” and it is not required for protected keys

Related questions

Can I mix the main stones and match different categories in the box without causing loss of speed?

definitely! Given that the box holds a maximum of key evidence, the escalating Cat6a cable and the key stone (for example) Cat5e cable and the key stone will not give birth to Crosssalk to cause any problems.

Will there be any problems using protected keycure evidence and unprotected keys (and cable associated with them) in the same box?

no. Since the square itself does not require interconnection on the ground, there are no problems with mixing the keys of protected, non -protected and communications cable. Keep in mind that the correction ropes described in the square should be protected or unprotected (by following the type of the attached socket) as needed.

Should the surface installation box be linked to the ground if housing is exclusive cable and keystone?

no. The box should be treated like a model Keystone Coystone wall panel. Since the plastic wall panels are not tied to the ground, this square should not be. The bond on the ground will be achieved using protected keystones with protected correction ropes instead.

What is the maximum category that I can use in this surface installation box?

Trecciped Port Status 2 installation box is completely category, so even Cat8 is allowed.

conclusion

So, there you have! Finally, there is a superficial installation box in the market that does not only accept any Keystone socket that you throw, but it is also easy to enter without any tools or the required guess. How did he not think this earlier? This is a difficult question, I have no answer. Perhaps in the luster and charm of the launch of new categories of cable, you forgot new types of major cranes, and manufacturers of correction panels for smaller but important importance. Well, no longer!

If keystone clicks, it fits!

Happy networks!

Support Cleantechnica work through an alternative subscription or a tape.

BYD and Shenzhen Port Group recently signed an agreement to expand cooperation between the auto industry and the port operator. While this news flew largely under the radar, the range of the agreement exceeds the BYD domestic ports to develop international logistics services and remove the carbon global shipping.

According to the Chinese Shipping website Hyqfocus (translated with Google), BYD and Shenzhen Port Group “will deepen cooperation in exporting Roll-on-Roll -f Motors, and building KD preparation centers abroad, international logistics for full cars, KD spare parts, car supply chain, and trade Green ports. “

In addition to construction and logistics, it will increase efforts in “logistical green channels, international supply chain services, and supply new energy …”. Or, as stated in the English language site Gasgoo: “Building Green Transport Corridors, enhancing international supply chain services, and Bunkering Energy support.”

Shenzhen Xiaomo Port aims to become the local and international charging center Roll-on-Roll -ff for new power cars. The local shipping side is important, as the internal and short naval roads are currently more suitable for electricity.

In addition, the Shenzhen Yantian Port and the Hong Kwai Tsing port will be used as container charging centers, especially for CKD (full vehicles or unconnected compounds) and spare parts, necessary to expand the global EV manufacture. These are already largely and automated. It extends from these centers, “We will gradually build a dense marine logistical network covering the world’s main cars markets, helping Shenzhen building a global global commercial center for new energy cars.”

Credit image

The importance of green corridors

Like early travel with EV, shipping shipping passes through the chicken dilemma against eggs. You can build ships that use low -emissions fuel or even operate batteries. However, there should be an infrastructure for refueling/recharge. The presence of the infrastructure is only originally, but not the destination, limits the range of operation. On the other hand, the ports do not want to invest in infrastructure if no one uses them. In addition, it is more effective to place the infrastructure along the ways you are likely to use, rather than trying to put it everywhere. As such, global cooperation becomes necessary to charge carbon.

As the World Maritime Forum says: “Green passages soon become central to carbon removal plans in the shipping industry. Green corridors, which are specific commercial methods where the feasibility of charging is determined by emissions, shows, and deception. Structure of sector energy.”

It is possible, with the development of infrastructure, technology develops and the establishment of roads, we can see fully preserved ships traveling from one to a port, covering great distances without exhaust emissions. Once these corridors are created, benefits can be branched into other ports.

Benefits extend beyond byd

7 of the RORO ships announced from the BYD already operating, as the final ship expected to reach the seas by the end of the year. These ships are designed to work primarily on liquefied natural gas, which already have (can be said) some environmental benefits. However, they also have large batteries on board that allow ships to work on electricity during some circumstances. This is now most likely very limited conditions. However, with the expansion of infrastructure charging, more electrical operation can be turned on. But BYD ships are not the only ships preparing to take advantage of the most green and more advanced ports.

However, while these efforts may come a long way towards carbon removal, the BYD has a lot to get it. Foreign investments, sales and revenues grow rapidly, and they can benefit from infrastructure development. BYD and other vehicles are also caused by ports electrification. Meanwhile, the BYD FindRams battery offers a specialized set of applications. The batteries are likely to help operate the ports, store clean energy to recharge the ships and store energy on those ships.

While BYD will hold on topical production of KD compounds, this also helps to develop global manufacturing, especially in emerging markets. With the development of local supply chains, the formation of vehicles is likely to turn into local content increasingly, as we saw with previous examples of assembly from KD compounds.

However, even if the BYD will benefit from charging and other logistical services, the benefits extend beyond that. We all share the same atmosphere, but local pollution tends to be more focused around ports. Especially in developing countries, where the capital is limited. By expanding the scope of developing ports to emerging economies where BYD expands quickly, these markets will greatly gain economically and environmentally. By building logistical and infrastructure for green shipping, global shipping can also realize the total benefits.

Gosport Harbour is located on the edge of Solent, and has been defined long ago through its rich maritime history. To celebrate the millennium, a distinguished family of detailed lanterns was assigned, which led to the bringing of both the character and light to Quayside. Now, after 25 years, this coastal teacher lighting will continue with more than 100 alternative lanterns that keep the original Sche design while providing improved efficiency and control.

DW Windsor has been contacted to provide a lighting upgrade, for example, providing a similar design that combines heritage details and contemporary performance. From the beginning, the project was formed through the deep respect of the site’s identity and preparation. The original lanterns were characterized by a detailed design, inspired by marine elements and the frequency of the ship’s texture. Today, the same spirit continues, as the similar lanterns are designed to retain its distinctive shapes while providing all the benefits of LED technology.

One of the biggest challenges is to translate a design designed for preserved technology as a high -performance LED solution. The original version was relied on two separate light sources: the son’s lamp for functional white light and a metal halide lamp for decorative blue lighting. The new version reflects this approach with two dedicated LED sources – a fine white light directed to the ground through modern optics, and a soft blue nucleus creates the glow of the signature that determines the personality of the lantern. The result is supporters that enhance the distinctive identity of the port at night.

The lanterns, designed to withstand the harsh coastal environment, are designed between durability with long service life. It protects the paint of marine degree, high -quality stainless steel, and strong seals with cannabis from salt and weather extremism. Each ingredient was built, and the lamps have been tested accurately to meet the appropriate entry protection categories (IP) in the internal DW Windsor Laboratory. Alternative lanterns are also designed to be installed on the original columns and arcs, ensuring vision continuity and reducing the turmoil in historical preparation.

The project requires a truly customized manufacturing process, which combines Cast components with CNC parts and other elements formed from specialized plastic materials. The complexity reflects the unique nature of the lantern design and the heritage requirements of the site. It also provided the size and weight challenges, which requires the addition of the lifting points and the improved metaphor installation for safe and installation.

DW Windsor worked in a close partnership with the Enerveo contractor, where the project was submitted under the PFI with the local authority. Throughout the project, the focus has been on maintaining the integrity of the original design with the update of the scheme with the modern and modern lighting technology that will serve the port for years to come.

Martin Raqr, PFI’s Southo, commented at Enerveo, saying: “This project explains what can be achieved when cooperation, craftsmanship and respect for heritage.

“This project requires heritage and performance budget in a difficult environment,” added Alex Winchib, Director of DW Windsor Product Design. “From how the lantern views during the day how it offers at night, and how it stands on the elements over time, all the details are important. The key is flexibility: listen to the customer’s needs, understand the personality of the place, and adapt our designs to suit them.”
