Schneider Electric has launched EcoStruxure Building Activate, an energy management and IoT automation platform for small and medium-sized buildings (>10,000 m2 each).

This innovative software platform addresses the growing demand for simple, flexible and cost-effective solutions that enable building owners and operators to reduce energy and operating costs, comply with energy and decarbonisation regulations, and improve customer retention – all without the need for an on-site facilities manager.

“Rising costs, shrinking demand for commercial space, updated regulations and government funding are accelerating building renovation efforts around the world,” said Kas Mohammed, Schneider Electric’s vice president of digital energy UK&I.

“Small and medium-sized buildings represent a large proportion of our built environment, and many will still be in use by 2050. But they have historically lacked access to affordable solutions for energy and operational efficiency. EcoStruxure Building Activate bridges this gap by enabling our customers to reduce emissions Operational efficiency and improved energy use without costly and extensive repairs.

Ideal for sectors such as retail, hospitality, healthcare, education and office, EcoStruxure Building Activate is a cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) designed to enable simple retrofitting. It eliminates the need for significant upfront costs associated with traditional software licensing and hardware infrastructure.

Instead, users pay a recurring subscription fee resulting in lower upfront costs and a faster payback period of up to two years. The system is an open platform that works seamlessly with a wide range of equipment, including HVAC, lighting, refrigeration, and more. It can be accessed via an easy-to-use web and mobile interface.

This flexible solution allows customers to choose the features they need, ensuring they only pay for their necessary choices. Key features include:

Sustainability Management: Reduce operational carbon emissions by up to 60% through real-time facility data monitoring and systems automation.

After just six months of using the EcoStruxure Building Activate energy management module, the historic 4-star Grand Monarque hotel saw a 15% energy reduction in its 600-year-old building, thanks to energy consumption insights and monitoring capabilities. Three- and four-wire devices are primarily installed in commercial/industrial applications and may include some residential applications. They are black rectangular appliances with a counter with a green plastic frame and a white sticker that says “Square D by Schneider Electric” with the date code and catalog number on the front. The recalled devices were manufactured from January 1, 2013 (date code 13011) through August 24, 2020 (date code 20352). Date codes in YYWWD format (for example: 20452 = year 2020, week 45, day 2 Monday; day optional). The date code is located on the front of the device. Catalog numbers included in the recall include:

This recall includes indoor, outdoor, and original (OEM) Square D QO neutral load centers installed in homes, recreational vehicles, or commercial establishments, including restaurants, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, commercial lighting, and more. Circuit breaker boxes are sold in gray and come in different sizes (square and rectangular). The recalled circuit breaker boxes were manufactured between February 2020 and January 2022, with date codes between 200561 and 220233.

For externally mounted load centers, manufacture date codes are printed on the inside of the unit’s lid or door or on the box itself when the lid or door is open.

For installed indoor load centers, a qualified electrician can identify internal date codes that are not visible to the homeowner.

Circuit breaker boxes with covers manufactured between December 2019 and March 2022 are also included in this recall. Affected catalog/part numbers can be found inside the electrical panel doors for both the US and Canada.
